Instead of "go, go, go" it is now "fast, fast, fast"!!

All Crust - No Eyes
Gabriel loves toast. But he just eats the crust. How weird!
Gabriel has also been experimenting with closing his eyes. He'll walk around the room (and sometimes run!!) with his eyes closed. His favorite thing to do is start at the futon couch, close his eyes, and run into the kitchen where mom catches him in her arms. (Sure, he peeks through squinted eyes sometimes.)

A Look at Two
"Cheeeeeese"
We went to Gabriel's 2 year appointment with the pediatrician on Tuesday. Gabriel has grown almost 2 pounds (now at 27lbs 13 oz) and almost 2 inches (36 3/4 inches) since the last appointment six months ago! He is still in the 95th percentile for height and 55th percentile for weight.
Gabriel can count to 10 easily (skipping 7 though) and can recognize and name lots of colors (ved, geen, boo, poopool, yeyo). He can easily put shapes to a puzzle together and is learning to use his new screwdriver toy. He loves to play with cars and says "ved, geen-go" (red, green go) all the time, making them stop and go. He likes to color (I found colored pencils are the best), blow and pop bubbles, build a "hum" home or tower with his blocks, play in his sandbox, and find any excuse to run.
He sometimes misses his daddy during the day and says, "Dad, uhoh, byebye." He gets so much energy when he is around kids, even new kids his size he meets at the park. He goes to bed at 8pm (asleep by 8:30) and is awake at 7am. He takes a nap from 1 to 3pm (when mom is able to work). Paul and I took him to the movie theater to see Pixar's "Up" the other night and we were not surprised that he sat nicely through the whole movie. He's a wonderful boy and he makes us so happy!

The Big TWO
Gabriel turned 2 on Sunday! We had a few toddler friends over on Saturday morning and they had a great time playing together. On Sunday we invited Gabriel's grandparents and aunts and uncles over to celebrate. I made it a fish-themed party since Gabriel loves "Finding Nemo" and the color blue. I hung inflatable fish and blue streamers. We munched on goldfish crackers and had swedish fish candies on top of chocolate cupcakes. We BBQ'd salmon and ate blue jello with blueberries and orange slices (for the orange fish Nemo swimming in the blue ocean). Gabriel had so much fun and received so many wonderful presents.
Gabriel knew how to blow out his candle and loved that part.
Eating the cupcake was the best part though.
Gabriel gives me his famous side-eyes.

Indoor Museum
Gabriel has been having so much fun at the Children's Discovery Museum. This morning I was sad to tell him that we couldn't go today because he's sick. He caught a cold this weekend and has a running nose. So I've been trying to be creative and make our house more fun. We built a tent with our dining room table. That will be fun throughout the day. I am also thankful that he likes his building blocks so much. He can stack them or use them as things to scoop when he is "cooking" with my old pot and spatula.

Camera Interest
It has been hard to take pictures of Gabriel because he is more interested in what's on the screen from my side than posing for the camera. I made a fake camera for him today and he thought it was hilarious. Here he is taking MY picture.
Some days are harder to get him to go down for a nap than others. Here is how I found Gabriel when I went to wake him up the other day. He had gathered most of his stuffed animals and put them on the bed with him. He normally just sleeps with his bunny (the lump next to him under the blanket). Notice also that he is longer than the width of the twin mattress!
