Too Cute in the Morning

Gabriel is too cute in the morning! I had to post this. Can you see those two lower teeth?

Sleeping

Here are some recent photos of Gabriel sleeping. First, asleep from a car ride home. Next, Gabriel took a nap in his father's arms on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Last, Gabriel tosses and turns before he wakes up, and I thought his position was funny (and yet still adorable).

Mega Blocks

I think Gabriel is teething again. He has a running nose, isn't sleeping at nights and is a little fussy during the day. So to distract him, I decided to break out these MegaBlocks which Paul and I bought before Gabriel was born. He's not quite old enough to stack them (he'll prove me wrong soon, I know), but Gabriel had a great time putting each piece in his mouth and taking each piece out of the big bag. :)

Easter

We spent Easter over my parent's house. Gabriel enjoyed all the plants in the backyard and hanging out with family. So much sun and colors and movement!

Climbing

Not too much exciting around here. Gabriel continues to pull himself up on furniture. He has all four front teeth now. We've started our second week in cloth diapers (which I wanted to do for a long time, but only now have had the time to research and learn how). And this weekend we're starting an experiment. Gabriel has been sleeping in our bed since he was born, naps in the crib. But we're trying to gently teach him to fall asleep in his own crib. The crib is in our room for now, so he's close by in case he needs us. We found a terrific book called "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley. I wish I had read this book before Gabriel was born, but it's still a great book with lots of good ideas and that matches our philosophy on raising kids.

8 Month Activity

Tomorrow, March 12, Gabriel turns 8 months old. That seems quite old to me. I can't believe my baby is getting so big. He has two bottom teeth that have poked through and two top teeth one of which just got through. No wonder he's chewing on anything and everything he can reach.

Gabriel's favorite activity right now is to pull himself up into a standing position, as you can see. He climbs up his crib, his toybox, his jumper seat, my leg...

I tried to have a photo shoot with him. Something nice for his 8-month birthday. The lighting in our house is so bad. I draped a blue sheet over the couch and floor as a backdrop, opened the blinds for light, and got the camera ready. But as you can see, he LOVES to crawl around. He rarely stays still anymore. So much for the photo shoot.

Quilt Mosaic

This has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen! My wonderfully talented Aunt Denise made this portrait quilt for Gabriel in a mosaic quilting workshop she recently took!
Keep scrolling down. :) Do you see him?

Video of Crawling in Grass

Afternoon in the Park

Gabriel needed to explore something new today, so we walked to the park (well, I walked, he sat in the stroller eating more sourgrass). At the park, he had a lot of fun pulling and eating the grass, and crawling around in it.

In Sickness and Health

Paul is still getting over his cold. Gabriel got the fever last weekend but just has a running nose now. It's my turn to be sick. Yuck. But we have this cute little boy to distract us. This truck is for 1-3 year-olds, but we decided to try it out early and Gabriel to loves it. It has buttons that make truck noises. He can't push himself around yet, but he likes sitting and being pulled around. Today he made it up the two stairs we have in the front room. He loves climbing and exploring.
