Two Weeks

Ephraim at two weeks old (today).
Another picture of Ephraim at 9 days old. (I wanted one with his eyes open.)
On a side note, at Ephraim's doctor's appointment yesterday, we found out he hasn't gained any weight in the past week. Sadly, this means that even with his perfect latch and strong suck (unlike his older brother) we need to supplement with formula again. I am very sad and disappointed, but also thankful for modern formula so easily available and that we caught his weight loss earlier than with Gabriel. In the past 24 hours he hasn't kept much of the formula down, but I hope this is just an adjustment period. We go back Thursday for another weigh-in.

Big Brother

We are adjusting to life with just the four of us (thank you, grandma and grandma for helping!!). Gabriel had a bit of jealousy the first day, but we are enjoying daddy being home full time. Gabriel wants to be like the rest of us and hold his brother too. Gabriel is super sweet and gentle to him.

Nine days old.

40 Weeks and Counting

**update: going in to be induced tonight (Monday). If it works, the baby should be born tomorrow (Tuesday 3/16).**

Gabriel gives me a hug while daddy takes a picture of mommy at 40+ weeks. My mom made this dress for me and I can't remember if we took a picture of me in it yet.
And a kiss for the baby too! (You are loved, baby. Come out where we can really kiss you.)
(Happy birthday to my daddy! ~Rachel)

No Baby Means a Boffer Saturday

Since the baby hasn't appeared, we thought we'd tempt him out with a small boffer gathering today. (Interesting to note that the first time I felt him kick was when we had a boffering repair/play session at our house too.) It was beautifully sunny today with a nip in the air. Gabriel had a blast playing swords in the backyard with dad, uncle John, cousin Everett, and friends. I was glad I had gotten a chance to mow the lawn earlier this week in between all the rain. We had fun!

Rainbow Connection

It rained on and off today, and we saw a big bright rainbow right before dinner. Gabriel has seen a real rainbow before, but it was fun to point out again.

Earlier today, I took Gabriel for his first professional haircut. He was laughing and having a great time... until she took out the razor to trim the edges. Then we stopped (the screaming and tears were not worth it). I do about the same quality job she did, but she was quicker (it helps to have someone there to distract him) and I wanted to see if she would do anything different. It was an adventure and he only remembered the fun parts as he told dad about it.
